This is a step by step guide on how to make butterscotch crunchy popcorn. It's so easy, quick and fun that children can make it under supervision.
What you'll need:
40 grams popping corn
60 grams white sugar
60 grams butter
pinch of salt
1 large tablespoon golden syrup
2 large baking trays
popcorn machine or a saucepan and a little vegetable oil
1:
Preheat your oven to 150 celsius , 300 farenheit or gas mark 2. Pop the corn using your machine (if you dont have one then pour a little oil into a saucepan. Add the popcorn and put the lid on. Heat on the cooker till you hear the corn popping . Keep shaking the pan till the corn stops popping , then it is ready for the next stage)
2:
Take a clean saucepan and add to it the sugar, salt butter and syrup. Melt on a gentle heat slowly stirring. Allow the mixture to boil for one minute and then remove from the heat.
3:
Pour the mixture over the popcorn that you prepared earlier and use two forks to mix together. Dont worry if the popcorn becomes a little soggy , this is quiet normal for this stage.
4:
Lay the popcorn mixture on the baking trays and bake in the oven for ten minutes. Mix the popcorn around half way through cooking. The popcorn should be a golden colour.
5:
Remove and allow to cool. As it cools it will crisp up.
Conclusion:
This is a lot cheaper to make. It would be a good idea to make a double batch as it tends to be addictive.
Tips:
You can put it into little plastic bags tied with ribbon as little gifts for children.
Why not make your own popcorn to take to the cinema.
