How To Roast Monkey Nuts

Your rating: None Average: 4 (1 vote)
Monkey nuts are known as peanuts and also groundnuts. There are some who argue that they are not nuts, this is because they come from the legume (bean) family. Whatever your thoughts they are a great source of fibre, protein, vitamins and a great alternative for a healthy snack. Anyway, let’s get back to roasting them.
What you'll need:
A bag of monkey nuts unshelled or shelled
An ordinary Oven
A baking tray
Salt (if desired)
Spread peanuts on the baking tray.
Roast the monkey nuts in the oven at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes for unshelled nuts and 15-20 for shelled nuts.
Let the nuts cool; shell the nuts with outer shell and sprinkle with salt if desired.
Nuts will be lightly browned and full of flavour and ready to eat.
You can flavour nuts with other seasonings, e.g. cinnamon, herbs or chilli. Just use your imagination and vary according to your taste, or just have them plain.
Handle very carefully when hot; let it cool properly if in doubt. Also, do not offer these snacks to anyone allergic to nuts.
