How to Make Tartare Sauce

Your rating: None
No fish n’ chips dinner is complete without a generous helping of tartare sauce, but store-bought varieties can be a little pricey. Why not whip up your own instead? Here’s how:
What you'll need:
¾ cup mayonnaise
¼ cup dill or sweet pickle relish
2 Tblsp. onion, finely chopped
1 Tblsp. snipped fresh parsley
2 tsp. capers, finely chopped (optional)
To a mixing bowl or plastic storage container, add mayonnaise, onion and capers.
Drain the relish and combine with the mayo mixture.
Add the parsley and blend well.
Cover the tartare sauce with a lid and chill in the refrigerator for 2 hours before serving. The sauce will keep for up to 1 week.
Always thoroughly rinse capers before chopping and adding them to the sauce.
For a lighter version, use ½ cup low-fat mayo and ¼ cup plain yogurt.
The recipe can be adjusted by adding a dash of vinegar, garlic powder or salt to taste.
