How to make sugar syrup or syrup de gomme

Sugar syrup, or gomme is used in many cocktails to add sweetness. It can be replaced with sugar in any recipe, however it means that the drink will need to be shaken more to disolve the sugar.
What you'll need: 
A large heatproof jug
A kettle
Water
Superfine white sugar
A glass bottle
1: 
Boil the water in the kettle.
2: 
Add to the jug.
3: 
Add sugar gradually whilst stirring the water.
4: 
Keep adding sugar until no more will dissolve.
5: 
Place the syrup in the fridge to cool down overnight.
6: 
Pour the syrup into the glass bottle and add a cork/pourer/stopper.
Tips: 
Sugar syrup will keep for around 1-2 months
When not in use keep the bottle sealed or it will attract flies!
Sugar syrup can therefore make a very good home made flytrap if left near doors/windows
Warnings: 
Take care with boiling water
