How to make mulled wine for Winter

Your rating: None
Mulled wine is a delicious traditional winter drink. This simple recipe makes a perfect hot drink for a cold night.
What you'll need:
1 bottle dry red wine
1 large orange
whole cloves
cinnamon sticks
1/2 cup dried cranberries
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
Cut your orange into wedges, leaving the skin on. Press cloves into the skin of the orange so they stick tightly.
Pour the wine into a pot, add oranges, cranberries, nutmeg and several cinnamon sticks. Place over low heat and stir gently. It is very important to watch the wine closely to make sure it doesn't come to a boil. Boiling will spoil the flavours.
When the wine is quite hot, it is ready to be poured into mugs or heat-resistent wine glasses. Add a fresh stick of cinnamon to each glass for garnish. If desired, pour the cranberries along with the wine. They will have soaked up all of the flavours and become soft and juicy.
Be very careful when pouring hot wine!
