Marzipan is a tasty and versatile almond paste, often used in making sweets, cakes and pastries. It is also easy to make. Follow this step-by-step recipe to create your own!
What you'll need:
115g icing sugar
115g caster sugar
225g ground almonds
Two eggs
1 tsp lemon juice
3 drops of vanilla essence
Sieve
Mixing bowl & wooden spoon (dry bowl)
Small glass/pyrex bowl (wet bowl)
Fork
1:
Sift the icing sugar into the mixing bowl. Add the caster sugar and almonds and mix together.
2:
Separate one of the eggs. Mix the yolk, the other egg, lemon juice and vanilla essence in the glass bowl, using a fork.
3:
Add the egg mixture to the 'dry bowl' and mix in.
4:
Knead gently until you have a smooth paste. If it's too sticky you can add some more icing sugar.
Tips:
Once you've created your marzipan you could add some food colourings and create attractive marzipan sweets.
