How to make Chantilly Cream

Your rating: None Average: 5 (1 vote)
Chantilly cream or (crème Chantilly) is very similar to whipped cream with the additional ingredients of vanilla extract and icing sugar. Chantilly cream is simple to make and can be used to accompany a number of different dessert dishes such as pies, ice creams, cakes and puddings. This how to make Chantilly cream guide assumes you are making the Chantilly cream to serve four people.
What you'll need:
Double cream
A vanilla pod
Icing Sugar
Whisk or hand-held mixer
A bowl
A measuring jug
Using a measuring jug take 284ml/10fl oz of double cream and place into a large bowl.
Take 1 vanilla pod and using a sharp knife slice the pod lengthways down the middle. Scrape the insides out of both halves and add to the cream.
Using a whisk or a hand-held mixer, whisk the content until the cream is light and fluffy.
Mix in some icing sugar for added taste and then serve.
The Chantilly Cream will be ready to serve up to 4 people or can be kept refrigerated and served at a later date, usually within 2 days.
Add more icing sugar for a sweeter taste. Keep tasting the mixture and adding icing sugar until you are satisfied.
Be careful not to over whip the cream. As soon as it thickens and holds it shape it is ready. Over whipping will result in liquid buttermilk. If this occurs you will need to start again.
